Press Release  (5469 character)

Since the beginning of the year the design group ATP architects engineers, which operates across Europe, has been the new majority shareholder of Mint Architecture. On Thursday evening the two sister companies ATP Zurich and Mint Architecture celebrated the opening of their new offices, which are very close to each other in Zurich West.

To mark the opening the Chairman of ATP’s executive board, Professor Christoph M. Achammer, emphasized the growing importance of both integrated design with BIM in an age of digitalization and the cooperation between interdisciplinary teams and specialists on demanding building projects.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is not exactly digitalization but, without BIM, the building industry will not be digital.” It was with this sentence that Christoph M. Achammer, the main shareholder of Continental Europe’s leading integrated design office, started his speech. The office is one of the pioneers of the BIM design method and has already been working for more than forty years in line with the principles of the interdisciplinary design culture. This has made it possible to realize the most demanding projects across the borders between both countries and areas of expertise, throughout the DACH and CEE regions. The greatest challenge is not how to meet the formal architectural demands of a project due to the fact that the ranks of architects are already studded with many outstanding names, emphasized Achammer. Much more challenging is the complexity of these projects themselves, which can only be managed with the help of integrated design.

Making use of complementary skills
The successful design company has now introduced further important skills to the group in the shape of Mint Architecture. The user-oriented approach and interdisciplinary way of working of Mint Architecture in the area of commercial architecture are fully aligned with the mindset of the ATP Group. Developing both commercial and public space from the perspective of the end user and with close attention to the client experience and the customer journey is an important challenge in an increasingly digital society.

The objective of the two strong architecture partners is to jointly address the challenges of the sector and to apply their complementary skills to demanding building projects. They fit together perfectly, emphasized Matthias Wehrle, ATP Partner in Zurich, and Peter Roth, CEO of Mint Architecture, during the opening event. While ATP designs and builds in interdisciplinary teams as a Swiss center of excellence for integrated design with BIM, Mint Architecture addresses the commercial and experience-oriented use and realization of designed surfaces, properties and spaces within the entire value chain of an architectural project. Together, the two offices can supply expertise across a wide range of markets including retail, entertainment and gastronomy, offices and workplaces, health and hospitality.

A user-oriented world of experience
The new offices of ATP Zurich and Mint Architecture are located at Hardturmstrasse 101 and Förrlibuckstrasse 150 in Zurich West. In the future, clients will gain an insight into a user-oriented world of work when they visit Mint Architecture’s own offices. Taking “activity-based working” as their starting point, the specialists have developed a design and use concept that, thanks to the activity-based working environment, permits new forms of collaboration and is fully experienced by around fifty employees on a daily basis. The spatial proximity of the two offices will enable both sides to realize new and challenging projects in Switzerland and right across Europe.
