The “winner” in the category “Excellent Architecture – Interior Architecture”: ATP architects engineers (Innsbruck) is one of the recipients of the well-known German Design Awards 2020 thanks to the integrally designed HOFER ALPHA Retail Network innovation center. Special praise was heaped upon this creative and sustainable transformation of an industrial hall into a modern working environment.

“A hall full of ideas”, is how the architect Robert Kelca, ATP partner in Innsbruck, describes the successful, sustainable transformation of a former solar panel production facility into one of Upper Austria’s most state-of-the-art workspaces. “Against the background of the increasing scarcity of land and resources the creative and responsible support of such a conversion project and the accompanying requirement to save resources were exciting challenges for us as architects and engineers. The integrated cooperation of all participants enabled us to successfully realize this symbiosis of old and new.”

The ALPHA Retail Network is the innovative heart of the retail giant HOFER, as well as being an experimental hotbed for the digital retailing of the future. A place whose bright, high spaces provide inspiration and open up perspectives – including for the students of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, who are also based here and able to share ideas with the worlds of both business and research.

What the jury said:
“The emphatically open workspace offers a high degree of variety and flexibility. The spacious and intelligently structured space features workstations and rest areas, as well as zones for meetings and concentrated work. Colours clarify the areas and further lighten up the design. The design succeeds in being modern, contemporary and friendly in every way, promising a pleasant working atmosphere.”

Following the ICONIC AWARD in summer 2019 (category “interior”), the German Design Award is the second prestigious prize awarded to the ALPHA Retail Network in a year, much to the delight of ATP.

This honors innovative products and projects, which are seen as pioneers in the German and international design landscape. The renowned prize is awarded by the German Design Council, the country’s leading body in the area of brands and design. The presentation ceremony will take place in Frankfurt on 7th February 2020.
