Pure enthusiasm was written on the faces of the children and young people taking part in the FIRST® LEGO® League and FIRST® LEGO® League Junior. Organized by the social education network talentify.me, the regional research and robotics competition was held in Vienna for the fourth time in a row. As a Silver Sponsor, ATP was involved on the ground and represented in the jury.

A total of 22 teams made up of 220 school pupils aged between six and 16 competed against each other with robots that they had built and programmed in line with the subject “CITY SHAPER – shaping the buildings of the future”. This offered them a playful introduction to the MINT subjects while also enabling them to network with potential employers such as ATP.

It was fantastic to see how engaged, structured, and ambitious the young participants were vis-à-vis robotics technology. One could see how passionate they were about the subject as a whole and about pursuing common goals”, said the juror Sanja Juric-Schmidhofer, HR Manager of ATP Holding, explaining her impressions of the competition. “This represents a perfect foundation for a future technical career with us”, she smiled. “Because this precisely reflects our own understanding of good cooperation: Acting reliably and maintaining a dialogue in order to remain passionate.

But this “bridge-building” should not end with the competition. Thanks to the educational network talentify.me the pupils will be able to stay in direct contact with ATP and its integrated design experts: for example, by applying for an apprenticeship with ATP.

Learning and development as part of an HR strategy
ATP has enjoyed a dynamic corporate culture of training and education for years. The motto “Share knowledge, obtain knowledge” has been institutionalized and constantly developed in the shape of the in-house “ATP-Academy”. “In addition to many other development measures such as secondment/job rotation, coaching, onboarding programs, and management qualifications, we offer our employees an in-house training and development program that we are constantly developing further”, says Andreas Oberthanner, Head HR at ATP. “For us as a learning organization the ATP Academy is an element of structured knowledge-sharing as well as an investment in the future. Employees, who make use of these training and educational opportunities, gain a strong sense of belonging and see this opportunity as a sign of appreciation that they take advantage of both for their own future and on behalf of ATP.
