With around 1,000 panels, the largest photovoltaic plant in the district of Landeck (Tyrol) will start operating on the roof of the new operational facility of Handl Gastro Service in May 2021.
With a peak capacity of around 380 kWp, the new building designed by ATP Innsbruck will produce around 420,000 kWH of electricity per year. This is enough to meet the needs of more than 100 homes.
Study
In order to achieve the optimal “yield” of sunlight in the narrow valley at Pians, ATP carried out a comprehensive study as part of the design process. Due to uncertainty regarding subsidies, three different variants and levels of development were tested. Supported by ATP, the client opted for the maximum coverage of the roof with east-west oriented PV modules and the minimization of rooftop maintenance routes.
With the company consuming close to 100 % of the generated power, the plant offers optimal conditions for sustainable energy production. This means that, rather than being fed into the grid, the electricity produced by the PV plant will be used in the operations of Handl Gastro Service. The generated electricity will not only cover periods of peak demand but also meet around 25 % of the entire electricity required by the facility.
