During the BIM Gala in the Allianz Forum in Berlin, the “CO2 Tool Building”, which was developed by ATP architects engineers, was recognized by the presentation of the Green BIM Award 2022. The innovative, digital tool enables integrated designers to evaluate the emission values of a range of constructional variants during the early design phases of a project.

This enables us to offer our clients a climate-friendly ideal variant,” says ATP Board Member Professor Thilo Ebert, who accepted the prize in Berlin alongside Tobias Hutter, ATP sustain, and the ATP architect and BIM manager Ursula Reiner.

The development of the ATP CO2 Tool is one of many targeted measures of the ATP Green Deal. The deal embodies ATP’s active contribution to reducing waste on the building site, cutting emissions, and saving resources. According to Ebert, “our advantage is the company-wide coherence of the ATP design approach. As we develop all buildings from the very start in an interdisciplinary manner within virtual models, it’s wonderfully easy to use our CO2 tool to determine the most resource-friendly, energy-efficient, and low-CO2 variant of a building. This award reinforces our commitment.”

ATP sustain, the ATP Group’s research and specialist design company for sustainable building, supports the ATP Green Deal by implementing innovative knowhow in the integrated design process. ATP developer and energy and sustainability expert Klara Meier and BIM manager Ursula Reiner explain how the innovative tool works: “The ATP CO2 Tool enables fundamental decisions to be made during the earliest design phases. By entering Revit parameters at the level of the building element, it’s easy to carry out a detailed investigation of the impact of a range of execution variants on the ecological footprint of a building.”

The Green BIM Awards were presented for the second time during this year’s BIM-Tage Deutschland. Working under the patronage of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), the jury honors exemplary projects, tools, and methods that have led to solutions for improved climate protection in the digital building industry.
