Press Release  (3494 character)

This year’s Christmas donation by ATP architects engineers has gone to an exceptional cultural project: The film “Er flog voraus”, by the director Max Gruber, is a subtle homage to the architect Karl Schwanzer, who is played by Nicholas Ofczarek, a member of the Burgtheater ensemble.

With more than 600 works, including BMW’s four-cylinder corporate headquarters in Munich and the Museum Belvedere 21 in Vienna, Karl Schwanzer is unquestionably one of Austria’s most important post-war architects. For ATP Board Chairman Professor Christoph M. Achammer, this support of a film about the visionary and pioneer of modern architecture, who died in 1975, was very close to his heart. “Karl Schwanzer was one of those Austrian architects who, in my opinion, pursued the Vitruvian criteria of Utilitas, Firmitas, and Venustas most uncompromisingly in his work. As Dean of (what was then known as) Construction Engineering AND Architecture at TU Wien and as the creator of BMW’s industrial icon, he is one of those role models who motivates us integrated designers at ATP architects engineers to make the world a better place with our buildings,” said the founding partner of Europe’s leading integrated design office.

In the words of director and producer Max Gruber, the sponsorship sum of 20,000 euros was wisely invested: “The generous support of ATP architects engineers helped us enormously to complete the work on time and in line with the high standards expected of a cinema film. It was particularly satisfying that, in ATP, we were able to find a sponsor that has a deep understanding for architecture and a strong contentual relationship with the protagonists of our film.

About the film
“Er flog voraus” is an unconventional, multi-sided portrait of an extraordinary personality. Karl Schwanzer was an architect of global significance, visionary, artist, legend, teacher, and poet. He understood architecture as an instrument for generating delight. In the role of the architect, Nicholas Ofczarek not only embodies Schwanzer’s masterly performance but also shows that truly virtuoso effortlessness can only be drawn from the hidden depths of the soul and that such emotional journeys are never without risk. The film, which premieres in Vienna’s Gartenbaukino on 4th October at 19.30, is on general release from 14th October.

Corporate Giving – ATP accepts its social responsibility
Every year, ATP architects engineers makes a donation to a socio-politically significant project or institution as a means of contributing to the public good. This sponsoring is concentrated in the geographical region in which ATP is anchored, as both employer and service provider. The focuses of ATP’s social engagement include such areas as architecture and engineering, design, construction, education, and social institutions and initiatives.
