A particularly energy-efficient administration complex for the Czech car makers Škoda has been built in line with plans by ATP architects engineers. The modern user-friendly corporate headquarters was recently completed.

After around two years of construction work, Škoda Auto moved into its new headquarters at the beginning of this month. Integrally designed with BIM, the “Laurin & Klement Campus” – which is named after the founders of Škoda Auto, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement – establishes a new benchmark in the field of sustainability. It was designed to achieve DGNB Gold Certification.

“We consciously focus on sustainable construction so that our buildings can make a concrete contribution to the meeting of our climate targets. Our warmest thanks for the successful conclusion are due to all involved in the project.” Meno Requardt, Managing Director of Volkswagen Immobilien

Sustainability objective “DGNB Gold”
In order to obtain this top certification, we worked closely with our research and specialist design company for sustainable building, ATP sustain, to develop a tailor-made energy concept based on a renewable and resource-friendly supply. The compact constructional method and further targeted measures such as a highly-insulated building envelope, the use of a large PV plant, and state-of-the-art ventilation systems ensure the high energy efficiency of the building operations.

“The new campus-like headquarters are flexible and forward-looking in the spirit of high user friendliness and operational simplicity. And we also focused on sustainability and energy efficiency – in line with the motto ‘simply clever’.” ATP Lead Project Manager Martin Jelinek

Design quality and comfort
We paid particular attention to the design quality – of not only the interiors but also the external areas. The requirement that the project should support collaboration and promote user satisfaction led to specific measures for the visual, acoustic, and thermal comfort of employees. The reduction of the amount of hard landscaping and the planting of the external areas also means that these could be used as a recreational area.

The approximately 44,000-m2 office complex consists of four blocks arranged around three courtyards. The campus has state-of-the-art New Work offices, a conference area, a company restaurant, and an underground car park for around 300 cars with a focus on sustainable electromobility.
