The advantages of digitalization have led to a situation in which the building industry is intensively addressing integrated methods of designing, building and operating.
For the architect Christoph M. Achammer, Professor at Vienna University of Technology, these will be impossible to ignore in the future: “Digitalization and sustainability go hand in hand. We receive better information on which to base decisions in the design and construction process as a result of which the quality is better for all participants.”
Christoph M. Achammer is CEO of ATP, one of Europe’s leading integrated design offices and an early mover on the BIM scene. He will also drive the discussion forward at the Autumn Congress of the IGLZ in discussion with other representatives of the sector. As a co-founder and honorary director of the IGLZ he was a member of the expert jury for the IGLZ startup initiative DBS, which will present its results in Vienna in just a few days time.

Award Ceremony: Digital Building Solutions (DBS)
In line with the slogan “Digitize today’s building industry” the IGLZ joined with leading companies to invite the submission of digital and disruptive software and hardware solutions as well as services related to the design, construction, operation and financing of buildings. New ideas or transformable solutions from other industries were in particular demand. 15 innovative startups are now set to make a final pitch to the expert jury and public. The winning team will take part in the prestigious Expo Real between 4th and 6th October where 25 out of a total of 700 startups from around the globe will appear under the aegis of the Real Estate Innovation Network (REIN).

IGLZ Congress 2017: The future is happening now!
As part of this year’s Autumn Congress the IGLZ will present new solutions that have been successfully implemented into building lifecycles. Exemplary projects will show how digitalization is already optimizing existing processes and generating new revenue streams. There will be a focus on established solutions from practice and innovative implementation concepts across the four phases of the building lifecycle. High-caliber roundtable discussions and countless best-practice examples will set the scene for the program.
