ATP architects engineers is also amongst the winners of the German Design Award in 2021: The manufacturing center for the producers of luxury watches IWC in Schaffhausen, which was integrally designed with BIM by ATP Zurich, received a “Special Mention” in the category “Excellent Architecture”. The expert jury praised the outstanding quality of the elegant showpiece factory.

“The IWC Manufacturing Center skillfully combines constructional craftspersonship and technical innovation into an impressive whole. We are delighted that our efforts have been recognized by the award of this prize,” says Matthias Wehrle, Managing Director of ATP Zurich.

Excellent architecture
Unpretentious, filigree, and contemporary – like an IWC watch – is the effect created by the IWC Manufacturing Center in Schaffhausen. With its aesthetic reference to the pavilion-like buildings of the Modern Movement, the architectural concept refers closely to the high-quality corporate design of IWC. Elegantly placed in the landscape as an “Exquisite Manufactory”, the streamlined building complex appears to have little in common with a normal factory. The energy-efficient facility, which is designed to maximize flexibility, longevity, and cost-effectiveness, brings together the manufacture of components, movements, and cases with a showroom, which offers visitors a first-hand experience of the IWC World, all under one roof.

“The IWC Manufacturing Center is a prestigious modern building that not only optimizes production processes but also makes these visible to groups of visitors. A striking design, whose clear and timelessly elegant architecture does justice to the IWC brand right down to the smallest detail, both inside and out.”

The German Design Award honors innovative projects that play a pioneering role in the German and international design landscape. The celebrated prize is awarded by the German Design Council, a competence center in the fields of design, brands, and innovation. The jury awards its “Special Mention” quality label to highlight convincing design and implementation. ATP’s recognition for the IWC Manufacturing Center represents its fourth consecutive German Design Award, following the Markas HQ (2021), HOFER ALPHA Retail Network (2020), and OMV Office Building (2019).
