ATP is one of the winners of the German Design Awards 2021: The headquarters of the service providers Markas in Bolzano, which was integrally designed with BIM by ATP’s Innsbruck office, was awarded with a “Special Mention” for its excellent architecture.
“Thanks to the special architectural construction, the levels of the building dispense with the typical load-bearing structure, thus underlining its open character,” confirmed the German Design Council in its jury decision, before adding: “This creates a friendly, bright, and contemporary spatial feeling, which is wonderfully enhanced by the young and fresh atmosphere of the interior design.”
This column-free and, hence, extremely flexible open office concept is the result of a v-shaped façade structure, which – in combination with the central circulation towers – forms the load-bearing structure. The use of an unconventional “top-down approach” creates “floating floors” with a unique quality. The offices are flooded with daylight. The fact that the Markas HQ is a feel-good location has already been confirmed by the WELL Gold certification that ATP received for the building early in the year.
The German Design Award is one of the world’s most recognized design competitions and honors trailblazing design trends. It is presented by the German Design Council, a competence center in the area of design, brands, and innovation. By awarding the “Special Mention” label, the jury has honored the building’s consistent design conception and implementation.
The lack of closed floors at the lower levels lends the Markas HQ openness and brightness.
