ATP architects engineers won 1st prize in the invited architecture competition for the new headquarters of Schrack Technik in Vienna-Liesing. The modern, ecologically designed office building should provide a home to the company’s central departments and to its Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland subsidiary.
By building the new headquarters, the leading technology provider that specializes in products and solutions in the area of energy and data distribution is preparing for future growth. The central headquarters is to be built on a site covering 15,000 m2 and will consist of a modern office building with associated storage area and a separate media store.
“The architectural vision of the headquarters that are tailored to meet the client’s needs is inspired by the technoid language of the innovative electrical engineering company. The compact volume offers an ideal setting for pioneering working environments,” says ATP Partner and Head of Design at ATP Vienna, Dario Travaš, describing the design concept.
In an integrated design process, ATP’s architects and engineers developed a highly functional building, whose rigorous architectural grid ensures that it can be flexibly adapted in line with changing needs. For example, the office areas can be subsequently enlarged at any time. This guarantees that the site can be optimally used without the need to concrete over any more green space. The facade and internal finishes are modular. This facilitates both flexible adaptation and the simple dismantling and reuse of the components of the building at the end of its life.
“The office building of the future requires spatial structures that can adapt to new and changing needs at any time. Maximum functionality and high-quality sustainability measures also ensure that the building will have a long life,” says Dario Travaš, ATP Partner and Head of Design at ATP Vienna.
Functionality meets sustainability
Alongside its high flexibility, the design, which was developed in cooperation with the sustainability experts of ATP sustain, pays maximum attention to the use of environmentally-friendly resources and energy-efficient building technology in the spirit of the ATP Green Deal. The building is heated and cooled via a large field of geothermal probes. A PV plant on the roof of the complex supplies the headquarters with green electricity. The comprehensive planting concept in the open areas and on the roof minimizes the heat island effect and sustainably improves the microclimate across the site.
