Since joining ATP architects engineers in April 2024, Viktor Lorentz has been dedicated to establishing an ATP office in Aachen. Just a few months later, the experienced architect and his team moved into the newly completed office in the heart of the city centre, in close proximity to the renowned RWTH Aachen University. A deliberate choice of location, according to Lorentz, as this is where transformation happens. And for him, this is everyday practice.
Change as a mission
Influenced by his international and local experience in the planning sector, Lorentz is deeply engaged with the future of the industry. He is particularly interested in the people and structures behind projects, decision-making processes, and the development of project strategies. In line with the principles of integrated design, he is committed to overcoming barriers and boundaries – between disciplines, institutions, data, or people. According to Lorentz, digitalisation and new working concepts, which challenge traditional processes, are key to driving change in the construction sector. The interdisciplinary approach and modern digital workflows (BIM) at ATP were decisive factors in his decision to join the integrated design office.
“The decision to bring ATP to Aachen was the result of intensive discussions with ATP CEO Christoph M. Achammer and a clear vision,” explains Lorentz. “The methodological approach to digital integrated design and the consistent focus on economically and ecologically sustainable projects convinced me to establish the location for ATP.”
The spirit of innovation in Aachen
Starting from scratch was a challenge Lorentz gladly accepted. The enthusiasm of his carefully selected team, combined with the strong foundation of the ATP group across the DACH and CEE regions, fills him with great optimism for the future. Alongside strengthening ATP's presence in western Germany, he plans to apply the specialised expertise of ATP architects engineers in specific design disciplines. In collaboration with the research and special planning office ATP health, already established in Aachen, the new integrated ATP office will increasingly focus on the health sector, among other areas.
Viktor Lorentz
After studying architecture at the TU Berlin, Viktor Lorentz spent his first years working in Shanghai, among others at gmp. Back in Germany, he went to Düsseldorf, where he was jointly responsible for the design and realization of office buildings at Ingenhoven Architects and, for several years, for the planning of the major Stuttgart 21 project. From 2015, he worked at BFT Planung in Aachen, where he was also Managing Director from 2017 to 2023. Since 2024, he has been Managing Director of ATP architects engineers, Aachen.
ATP architects engineers
The interdisciplinary collaboration between architecture and engineering, along with modern knowledge management, has made ATP the leading European office for integrated design. With more than 1,500 employees across 14 current locations in Europe, we design for clients in research and industry, retail, real estate, and the health sector, supported by our in-house research, special planning, and consulting companies. Since 2012, ATP has consistently utilised BIM for fully digital planning. The Group's corporate structure enables ATP to continuously evolve as a learning organisation. To meet the responsibility of building for future generations, the integrated design office is committed to climate-neutral and sustainable planning and construction under the ATP Green Deal.
