Press Release  (3105 character)

ATP architects engineers has been awarded the contract in the VgV tendering process for the restructuring and refurbishment measures at Emmendingen District Hospital. The healthcare construction experts are strategically advancing the existing buildings from the 1970s, creating contemporary and efficient framework conditions for patient care, operations, and day–to–day working environments.

Emmendingen District Hospital, built in the 1970s, is facing the task of adapting its structural and functional organization to meet today’s healthcare requirements. The aim is to future–proof hospital operations, strengthen the quality of care, and at the same time create stable framework conditions for ongoing operations.

ATP was awarded the contract in the VgV tendering process for the third construction phase. The concept focuses on optimizing patient care, establishing a Surgical Aftercare and Outpatient Center (OMVZ) in Building A, modernizing the building structures, and improving energy efficiency and operational processes. In addition to fulfilling all required planning and refurbishment services, the ATP planning team identified further optimization potential.

We are delighted to have reached this milestone. With the next construction phase, we are creating a modern environment in which our patients feel well cared for – and where our employees enjoy working.
– Armin Müller, Managing Director, Emmendingen District Hospital

Improved Patient Care and Working Environment
A key component of the project is enhancing the quality of stay – for both patients and staff. This will be achieved through optimized circulation within the hospital and improved logistical connections to the nursing wards. The flexible spatial and functional concept also enables future–proof use and adaptability. At the same time, synergies between the building sections contribute to efficient space organization. The existing three–bed rooms will be converted into contemporary one– and two–bed rooms with private bathrooms. This improves both comfort and the quality of nursing care. The refurbishment will take place during ongoing hospital operations. Clearly defined construction phases will ensure that inpatient processes are disrupted as little as possible.

Energy Refurbishment
The facades of Building A are largely in their original condition from 1973 and must therefore be brought up to current standards. At the same time, they will receive an architectural upgrade that integrates harmoniously into the overall appearance of the district hospital. Particular attention is paid to ensuring permanently low operating and maintenance costs. The energy concept takes the existing Building Services into account and advances them in a targeted manner.
